IVA Mobility: who we are and what we make

IVA Mobility is a Dutch mobility brand that designs, imports, and distributes electric vehicles. Our head office is located in Dordrecht, our service center is situated right next to the warehouses, and our customer service is available in Dutch. That is no small detail: it means that parts, warranty processing, and service requests are handled domestically — not via a foreign importer.

The IVA product line consists of four pillars: electric scooters, mobility scooters, electric tricycles and electric wheelchairs. The scooters are popular among young people and for commuting; the mobility scooters and wheelchairs ensure that seniors and people with disabilities remain independently mobile. The common thread running through all models: a modern appearance, reliable technology, and a fair price.

What distinguishes IVA

We work based on three principles. First: Dutch service. Every IVA scooter and every IVA mobility scooter is inspected in our service center before delivery, and in the event of a warranty claim or repair, you do not have to wait weeks for parts from Asia. Secondly: proven technology. Our top models run on Bosch motors and lithium-ion batteries from well-known cell suppliers. Thirdly: a close-knit dealer network. Our more than 100 dealers ensure that a physical test drive is possible for almost every customer within a reasonable distance.

The ANWB regularly tests electric scooters in an independent test. The IVA E-GO S4 came out on top in this test in 2022 — not because it was the most expensive, but because its handling, braking, and build quality received the highest ratings. That remains the benchmark for every new model we design.

In short: IVA is a Dutch brand with a wide range, its own service department, and a dealer network where you can actually test drive.

IVA scooters: from moped to light scooter

An IVA scooter is an electric scooter powered by an electric motor and a lithium-ion battery, without exhaust fumes. Within our scooter range, three speed classes are relevant — and these determine which driving license, license plate, and helmet requirement apply to you.

Moped — 25 km/h, blue license plate

The light moped has a maximum speed of 25 km/h and a blue license plate. You do not need a driving license if you turned 16 before January 1, 2010; after that, an AM license is mandatory. Since July 1, 2023, wearing a helmet is mandatory for light mopeds on public roads — a lightweight (speed pedelec) helmet is sufficient. Our IVA Lux Special Electric is a typical light moped: retro design, quiet motor, ideal for the city.

Moped — 45 km/h, yellow license plate

The moped has a maximum speed of 45 km/h and is fitted with a yellow license plate. An AM driving licence is required, and a full-face or jet helmet is mandatory. It can be driven from the age of 16. This class includes the IVA E-GO S4 (ANWB winner) and the IVA E-GO S5 — our most powerful 45 km/h scooters, with enough range for commuting of 30 to 60 km per day. More about what you need to arrange regarding license plate and driver's license via the RDW you can read about in our guide scooter license plate and insurance.

Engine class — 80+ km/h

Above that is the motorcycle class: vehicles that can go faster than 45 km/h, such as the IVA E-GO S8. A Class A driving licence is required for these. This class is suitable for commuting on provincial roads and for customers who need speed and range.

Battery and range

The battery determines how far you can go. An average IVA scooter achieves 50 to 80 kilometers on a single charge; top models with dual batteries reach up to approximately 120 kilometers. The lithium-ion cells in our batteries last about 800 to 1,200 charge cycles before capacity visibly decreases — with daily use, that is 5 to 7 years. A removable battery means you can charge it indoors, even if you don't have a power outlet at your parking spot. More details can be found in our explanatory blog about the battery of an electric scooter.

In summary: choose your IVA scooter based on speed class (moped, scooter, motorcycle), range, and whether the battery needs to be removable.

IVA mobility scooters and electric wheelchairs

An IVA mobility scooter is an electrically propelled vehicle on 3 or 4 wheels, intended to remain independently mobile over short to medium distances. In our mobility scooter range, we differentiate based on three characteristics: foldable or fixed, three- or four-wheeled, and range.

Folding mobility scooters

Foldable mobility scooters such as the IVA E1000 and the IVA Z1000 fit in a trunk or luggage compartment when folded. This makes them ideal if you want to go on holiday in a regular car, travel by train, or store the scooter in the attic or a storage room. The weight is around 25 to 30 kg, and folding takes less than a minute.

Fixed mobility scooters — 3-wheelers and 4-wheelers

Fixed mobility scooters offer more comfort and a greater range. A 3-wheeler is more maneuverable in tight spaces. — handy in supermarkets and on bike paths in the city. A four-wheeler is more stable at higher speeds and on uneven terrain. — better for longer distances, inclines, and curbs. The IVA T3 Mobility Scooter is our most popular 3-wheeler; the IVA S1000 is a popular 4-wheeler for those living outside the city.

range and battery

The range of our models extends from approximately 20 km (compact foldable) to 60 km (large 4-wheelers with a dual battery). For the average user who runs errands and visits family, 25 to 35 km is sufficient. Those who go to day care every day are better off choosing 40 km or more.

Electric wheelchairs

In addition to mobility scooters, IVA offers a line of foldable electric wheelchairs, including the Robooter brand. These wheelchairs weigh from approximately 24 kg, fit in a car trunk when folded, and have a range of 20 to 35 km. They are often a good alternative for people for whom a mobility scooter is too large or who prefer to be transported backward-facing by an attendant.

Brief conclusion: choose your IVA mobility scooter based on use (within vs. outside the city), transport (foldable vs. fixed), and range.

Where to buy an IVA: dealer network, webshop, and service

Both routes lead to the same product, with the same warranty and the same service support. Buying online via ivamobility.com

The IVA Mobility webshop Delivers throughout the Netherlands and Belgium. You can pay online, request a quote, or pay in installments via a deferred payment partner. Delivery is usually within 5 working days and is handled by a specialized carrier who delivers the vehicle to your front door — or, for mobility scooters, into the storage area upon request.

Our average response time to a service request is one business day.

Secondhand or new?

A second-hand IVA scooter can be a great buy, provided you have the battery tested on a calibrated tester (a healthy battery still delivers 80–90% of its original capacity after 2 years). If in doubt, ask your nearest IVA dealer for a battery check. For parts on older models, you can visit our service center — we often still have original parts for scooters from the first IVA generations from 2014–2018 as well.

Frequently asked questions about IVA Mobility

Is IVA a good scooter brand?

IVA is an established Dutch scooter brand that scores well in independent tests. The IVA E-GO S4 won the ANWB test for electric scooters in 2022 and remains a benchmark in its class to this day. Strong points: build quality, Bosch motor in the top models, Dutch service, and warranty handling. Point of attention: in the very lowest price range, there are cheaper alternatives, but you often compromise on battery quality and service.

Is IVA a Dutch scooter brand?

Yes. IVA Mobility BV is based in Dordrecht and is a Dutch company. The design, quality control, import, and service organization are all located in the Netherlands. Component production takes place internationally — just like with virtually all scooter brands — but assembly, quality control, and distribution are handled from our center in the Netherlands.

Which IVA scooter models are available?

The IVA line includes the IVA Lux Special Electric (moped, 25 km/h, retro), the IVA E-GO S4 and IVA E-GO S5 (scooters, 45 km/h, ANWB winner in its class), and the IVA E-GO S8 (motorcycle class, 80+ km/h).View the complete current selection at the scooter collection.

Which IVA mobility scooters are available?

Our mobility scooter line includes the IVA T3 (3-wheeler, popular for the city and bike paths), the IVA S1000 (stable 4-wheeler), the IVA E1000 (foldable, ideal for trunk transport), and the IVA Z1000 (heavier 4-wheeler with a greater range). The full range and current specifications can be found at the mobility scooter collection.

Where can I buy an IVA scooter or IVA mobility scooter?

You buy an IVA online via ivamobility.com, or at one of our more than 100 authorized IVA dealers in the Netherlands and Belgium. Via the dealer locator You will find the dealer in your area. With both options, you receive the same manufacturer's warranty and use the same Dutch service organization.

How long does the battery of an IVA scooter last?

The lithium-ion battery in an IVA scooter typically lasts 800 to 1,200 full charge cycles before capacity noticeably decreases. With daily commuting, this amounts to 5 to 7 years before replacement becomes worthwhile. Tips to maximize lifespan: charge between 20 and 80%, store indoors during frost, and allow a proper charge cycle to complete rather than charging in short bursts frequently.

Can I increase the speed of my IVA scooter?

Modifying an IVA scooter to increase its speed is not legally permitted. A light moped has a maximum speed of 25 km/h, and a light scooter a maximum speed of 45 km/h. Anyone exceeding this limit is driving without valid insurance, risks a fine, and in the worst case, confiscation. Do you want to drive faster? Then choose a model that is factory-approved for higher speeds, such as the IVA E-GO S8 (motorcycle class, 80+ km/h). You will, however, need a category A driving license for this.

How do I arrange service or parts for my IVA?

For service or parts, you have two options. Walk into the IVA dealer where you purchased the vehicle or another authorized dealer (see dealer locator). Or contact our own customer service. Parts for current models are in stock in Dordrecht; for older models, delivery is also possible in most cases. The response time to a service request is one working day on average.
